WindowsTM Client Software for
BACnetTM Systems
If you're a developer, building owner or facility manager with multi-vendor
BACnetTM systems, chances are you can't get
all the specialized application programs you need to make your facility work
properly and inter-operate across vendors. If you've looked at the BACnet
standard, you know that even simple communications functions can present some
daunting problems, and you probably don't have the time to become that much
of a BACnet expert. You need fast and reliable tools to help you get right
into communicating with BACnet devices and focus on solving your application
problems. If your application requirements include access to information in BACnet
devices through
CitectSCADATM Color Graphic Workstations,
then you need BACdoorTM Citect Client.
BACdoorTM
Citect Client is the industry's first easy-to-use
CitectSCADA Client Software for BACnet. BACdoor Citect Client runs under
Windows 98, NT4, Me, 2000 or XP, with Citect v5.42 or later, and provides a robust set of basic client features tailored
to the needs of application designers.
BACdoor Citect Client will automatically locate and identify peer BACnet devices for you, even on multiple network segments.
You can also configure the peer list statically in a file for faster startup.
BACdoor Citect Client is implemented as a full 32 bit DLL to take advantage of the BACdoor Client DLLs.
The Citect Client is not an add-on afterthought like other competitive products based on OPC. This driver was built
from scratch to take advantage of Citect's unique internal architecture. We use a special caching technology that dramatically
improves performance with CitectSCADA. This is critical in any job when more than 100 points are involved (i.e. almost every job).
The BACdoor Citect Client process acts
as an interface between Citect applications and the BACdoor Client DLL that manages communications with BACnet peer devices.
The BACdoor Citect Client automatically translates point requests into BACnet ReadProperty and WriteProperty requests.
Through the use of customizable templates, you can easily create graphic screens and Citect "alarms" that manipulate properties
of BACnet objects in any BACnet device. The point writing mechanism includes support for BACnet command prioritization so you
can match specific points with compatible command priorities and synchronize control over BACnet devices.
Reading and writing are restricted to properties that have primitive datatype values such as integer, real, boolean and
so forth.
The underlying BACdoor DLL also provides dynamic status of incoming and outgoing message traffic to facilitate rapid
problem-solving and network level debugging.
The software comes with a native Citect driver for BACnet, as well as key Citect databases for HELP.DBF, PROTDIR.DBF
and PROTERR.DBF. The documentation includes detailed instructions for integrating BACnet into any Citect project.
Typically the Citect BACdoor Client is installed on a single I/O server or workstation.
